Prime Day just proved Amazon has a blind spot.
And Walmart exploited it perfectly.
The numbers don't lie:
Walmart's weeklong "Deals" event outperformed Amazon's longest-ever Prime Day by basically every metric that matters.
Spending on Walmart[.]com grew 24% year-over-year.
Amazon's Prime Day? Only 4% growth.
That's six times faster growth for Walmart.
Web traffic up 14% for Walmart while Amazon's was flat.
App usage up 22% for Walmart vs just 3% for Amazon.
With tariffs hitting and every retailer running deals during this time, Prime Day isn't just Amazon's thing anymore.
Big box stores, other online retailers are all cashing in on the traffic Amazon created.
While Amazon extended Prime Day to four days, Walmart said:
"Cool, we'll just offer pickup in 20 minutes."
That's infrastructure Amazon can't replicate, no matter how much they spend.
From what I'm seeing with our clients, the competition is getting fierce.
Sellers are having to work harder for the same results.
Amazon created Prime Day to dominate retail.
Turns out, they just created a monster that everyone else is feeding off.
