One-size-fits-all learning is about to become completely obsolete.

OpenAI just rolled out Study Mode, a built-in ChatGPT tutor that guides you step-by-step instead of blurting out answers.

Here’s what stood out to me:

→ Multi-lens teaching. Study Mode automatically rotates through analogies, numeric examples, mini-quizzes, and quick sketches to tackle the concept from several angles.

→ Choose-your-own-path prompts. After each step, ChatGPT asks what you’d like next, for example, “Would a diagram help, or should I quiz you?” - you control both format and pace.

→ No detailed or intricate prompting required. Flip the conversation tool to “Study and learn” and it handles the details; you can stay focused on the material instead of crafting elaborate prompts.

→ Built-in role play. Request a scenario such as a clinical case study or a physics lab procedure and it turns the lesson into a branching exercise where you choose each next action and see the potential rewards or consequences.

→ Room for polish. Everything still happens in the standard chat window. A dedicated study interface could make diagrams, progress tracking, and feedback even clearer.

Feels like a small preview of a future where curiosity sets the syllabus and AI does the heavy lifting. Study mode is available right now for Free, Plus, Pro, Team, with ChatGPT Edu coming in the next few weeks.

(Edu getting it last is crazy.)
