Images - The Unilever Way

  1. 91% of consumers want personalisation. Stating they are more likely to shop with brands that offer relevant recommendations. If you sell in the grocery or beauty category, I had an idea that might allow to achieve personalisation…without creating 1000’s of variations of the same SKU. [Post].
  2. 43 brilliant examples of infographics. From 1 brand. That Protein doing great here! I like 42 and 38, which are both different ways to think about your main product images. Email me back your favourites.
  3. Sensational and sustainable packaging idea. Perhaps the most invoked by emotions I have been for at least 49 days by a packaging example. It’s just a double whammy, sustainable and enjoyable. Plus, it reinforces the importance of educating your customers, because there is still a big info gap with this. [Video].
  4. iOS15 will impact your sales. Not on Amazon, unless you send email list subscribers to Amazon, which many of you don’t (bizarrely). In short you won’t get open rate data. Here is the long breakdown of what’s coming and how you can react. [Podcast, Apple]. I’m adapting by asking how you want to be communicated with, introducing the idea of a WhatsApp group so we can have more of a 2-way conversation. Fill this form if you’re keen for the experiment. [Form].
  5. Sponsored video best practice. These are booming for us right now, with 175% increase in sales being recorded in May driven primarily by this ad type for a client. Key things to remember is to focus on benefits (no one cares about your features), optimise it for mobile, invoke an emotion, just get it done. Don’t fuck around for 3 months working on a strategy, launch it with something basic, then iterate and iterate and iterate. Good guide by Pacvue.
  6. How Unilever think about main images. I’ve been hammering this for a while. Yes it is a grey area to add thumbnails on your main images on Amazon, but my advise would be to push your luck a little because it massively helps customers with their browsing, driving higher CTR’s for you. [Example].
  7. These videos. Would look. So good. For point 5. [Video]. I felt like a cat watching a ball of swinging string.
  8. Stop competitors stealing customers. Use banners on your storefront that are buyable, I forget the right term, but this video explains it well. Amazon Ad -> Store (no comp) -> Impressive content with benefits -> Add to Basket. Are you doing this yet?
  9. Amazon destroys 124,332 items a week in 1 UK warehouse. [Post].
  10. A month of Amazon Advertising learnings, in one email. Our team released a new newsletter (mouthful). 73% of subscribers opened it and 21% clicked. It’s a great email. Subscribe here to get this 3-minute headshot on everything that happened with amazon ads this month.

Thanks,

George
