Cut Amazon PPC Spend by 50% (or more) in Just 10 Minutes!
Have you ever faced a situation where an account needs a dramatic spending reduction—like 50% or more—and fast? Here's a step-by-step method for optimizing efficiently without sacrificing critical campaign performance using Amazon Bulk Files.
Step 1: Download the Bulk File
Go to Ad Console > Sponsored Ads > Bulk Operations.
Select a custom spreadsheet for the last 14 days and download it.
Open the file and focus on the Sponsored Products Campaigns tab.
Step 2: Filter for Targets
Filter the Entity column to show only “Keyword” and “Product Targeting.”
Copy these rows into a new Excel file for easier handling.
In the new file, filter by ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sales), sorting from highest to lowest.
Step 3: Adjust Bids
Create two new columns:
Bid Change: Specify your desired reduction percentage.
New Bid: Use a formula to apply your bid reduction.
Here’s a sample bid adjustment strategy for aggressive spend cuts:
ACoS > 100%: Reduce bids by 40%.
ACoS 50%-100%: Reduce bids by 30%.
ACoS 10%-50%: Reduce bids by 20%.
ACoS < 10%: Reduce bids by 5%.
The formula for New Bid:
New Bid = Send me a DM 😛
After applying the formula, copy-paste the New Bid values into the original Bid column.
Step 4: Upload the Updated File
Delete the temporary columns you created (e.g., Bid Change, New Bid).
In the Operation column, write "Update" for all rows.
Save the file and upload it back to Bulk Operations in the Ad Console.
Results are typically visible the next day!
This method lets you:
Identify non-performing targets with precision.
Save time—no need for tedious manual updates across multiple campaigns.
Avoid cutting spend on high-performing campaigns.
Pro Tip: Use this same process for Sponsored Brands campaigns by selecting the Sponsored Brands Campaigns tab in the bulk file.
Things to Keep in Mind
High ACoS Isn’t Always Bad
Campaigns with high ACoS might still support long-term goals like organic ranking or visibility. Evaluate performance beyond just profitability.
Set Budget Caps to Manage Spend
Establish daily caps to control overall spend, balancing Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display campaigns based on performance.
Tailor Adjustments to Your KPIs
Your reductions should align with account goals, whether that’s lowering ACoS, boosting revenue, or improving organic visibility.
Monitor Results and Iterate
Changes take effect quickly, often visible the next day. Use this data to refine your approach and ensure the strategy works as intended.
This method delivers measurable improvements while keeping your spend aligned with business priorities.
The Bottom Line
Using bulk files is a fast, effective, and scalable way to optimize Amazon PPC. Whether you’re working with tight timelines or need a major spend cut, this method ensures precision without compromising your visibility or sales.
