Indexing vs Ranking on Amazon. Indexing on Amazon means your product can be found in search. Ranking means it's actually showing up in the search results. Thanks, Bradley.

What is the difference between indexing and ranking on Amazon? I get so many messages from people who are confused about that since they see conflicting definitions. Well, here is the definitive definition from the team who first even coined the phrase for Amazon indexing over 6 years ago, and which happens to be the actual definition of indexing/ranking in the SEO World. In a nutshell, indexing means you are potentially searchable for a keyword on Amazon. For example, if you type in a keyword, it might say in the results, "1-40 out of 40,000 results." That means there are over 40,000 products INDEXED for a keyword on Amazon. Ranking means you are showing up in the search results. For most keywords, only 7 pages or 300-350 results show up, or are RANKING for a keyword. Understanding the difference is important so that you can understand things like why you might not be showing up in the search results, or why you cannot get impressions in PPC, and more. This video goes more into detail.
