Ever heard of an Amazon company that proudly sells you… a mystery bag of junk?
Woot.com (yes, owned by Amazon) has a listing called “Bag o’ Crap.”
It sells out in seconds.
No one knows what’s in it.
You’re guaranteed disappointment.
People fight to get it.
And somehow… it works.
But what really gets me is what happens when a company embraces imperfection at scale and makes it part of the brand.
Woot doesn’t try to be polished. It doesn’t hide the randomness, it doesn't even have a search bar.
While it doesn't stop being an e-commerce where you can buy other "serious" things you would need, while also builds loyalty by laughing at itself, being brutally honest, and letting people in on the joke.
So while most brands chase perfect positioning,
Woot sells a bag of unknown junk with the tagline: “You get what you get.”
And somehow, that’s enough to build a fanbase.
So I have to ask…
Would you buy a Bag o’ Crap?

✅ “This is genius.”
😂 “Wait, is this real?”
🚫 “Why would anyone want that?”
