Amazon's new guidelines starting August 15th will ban special characters and emojis in product listings. AI will enforce compliance and auto-generate bullet points, potentially altering listings without seller approval. Sellers must vigilantly monitor changes to maintain control.

Amazon wants to control your content unless you fight back.

Starting August 15th, 2024, Amazon is shaking things up with new bullet point guidelines for your product listings to make them more customer-friendly and streamlined. But what's new?

First (and not bad at all), we can say goodbye to special characters, emojis, and certain phrases, such as refund-related guarantees.

RIP to emojis πŸ€―πŸš¨πŸ€”πŸŽ‰βš οΈπŸ₯•

Additionally, Amazon will provide guidance on how to create bullet points that are both clear and concise (maybe something similar to what I showed you in the past for listing creation)

At the same time, Amazon will use AI to enhance listing quality by removing non-compliant content and generating high-quality, compliant bullet points.

That last part sounds most disturbing because the workflow is expected to work this way:
β€’ The AI will provide feedback, review, and show what it considers will work best for our listings.
β€’ We will have to approve the content or make adjustments to save and finish.
β€’ Otherwise, the changes will be applied without us noticing within a specific time (as it has already happened to many sellers).

Having Amazon control your listing information is the worst thing that can happen to a listing in the era of AI, where perception is reality, and the content is the source of AI training.

All this means that not only will we have to be attentive to the changes we make, contributions, etc., but we will also have to be attentive to the changes that Amazon considers appropriate for our listings πŸ™„

It’s CRUCIAL for sellers to keep a close eye on the changes to maintain control.

It's time to get those listings polished. What do you think?
