AMAZON SHUTS DOWN QUEBEC OPERATIONS, CUTTING 2,000 JOBS

Amazon is closing warehouses across Quebec, affecting nearly 2,000 workers, including 300 from the province’s first unionized facility.

The company cites cost-cutting and a return to third-party delivery models.

Union leaders are calling it an ‘anti-union’ move after a Laval warehouse unionized in May 2024.

Seasonal workers will finish contracts, while others get 14 weeks’ severance.

Union vows to fight as Amazon reshapes its Canadian operations.
